CANDY’s runway show may not have been part of the official Japan Fashion Week line-up but taking place as the final show of The Shibuya Fashion Festival it cemented the Fake Tokyo crew’s influence over the week. CANDY had kicked off MBFWT with a House of Malakai and EGR Pop-Up Shop which also so the only substantial party of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Tokyo at Le Baron (slightly dampened by the Typhoon). The CANDY staff helped out on the door of the Christian Dada show as well as organizing the debut collection presentation by 99percentis, arguably two of the most buzz worthy collections of the week. Basically no other select or department store no matter how big or small can hold a torch to the work the team at Fake Tokyo are doing.
The show itself was held on a walkway at Miyashita Koen, the live video feed displaying the assembled crowd perched above the traffic taking in the show which featured items styled from CANDY’s wide range of young foreign and domestic design talent including the afore mentioned EGR and House of Malakai, Christian Dada, DISSBORN, SASU KAUPPI, KYE and BALMUNG.
