WWDで発表された草間彌生とルイ・ヴィトンのコラボレーションは、今年の7月にローンチされる予定。これまで村上隆、リチャード・プリンス、スティーブン・スプラウスらがルイ・ヴィトンとコラボレートしている。また、1月7日より国立国際美術館にて「草間彌生 永遠の永遠の永遠」が開催されている。MORE INFO HERE!!!
Earlier this week, WWD conformed that renowned Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama is collaborating with the worlds leading luxury goods house Louis Vuitton on a range of bags, clothing and accessories to be released in July 2012. The dots obsessed Kusama met with Louis Vuitton Creative Director Marc Jacobs in Tokyo back in 2006. The meeting was recorded in the highly recommended documentary, ‘Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton’ which was released in 2007. Stills from that meeting are above, Kusama gifted Jacobs with a personalized Louis Vuitton bag, perhaps offering a preview of what to expect this Summer. Louis Vuitton has previously collaborated with artists including Stephen Sprouse, Richard Prince and Takashi Murakami but this collaboration with Yayoi Kusama has the potential to be bigger than them all.
As well as this collaboration, Louis Vuitton is supporting Yayoi Kusama’s upcoming exhibition at the Tate Modern in London where in turn Kusama will create an installation for LV’s New Bond Street Maison gallery.
