昨夜、DOVER STREET MARKET銀座にて開催された「草間彌生」と「ルイ・ヴィトン」のコラボレーションが東京でも遂にお披露目。1階フロアにはカラフルなドットの衣装にドットでペイントされたマネキンたちがお出迎え。2012年秋冬コレクションと共にディスプレイされた銀座店だけの限定BOOK「LOUIS VUITTON-YAYOI KUSAMA」。アートディレクター、テセウス・チャン（Theseus Chan）。草間彌生のパフォーマンスを一目見ようと会場は混雑気味。著名人の姿はもちろん、草間彌生のドットな世界観に魅了される人々。そして、今回のアートなコラボレーションについて語ってくれた草間先生。言葉一つ一つに説得力がありとても貴重な時間だった。また、愛と平和 … 日本、地震、福島 … と現在起こっている事や、過去に起こってしまったことなどについて語り、彼女ならではのメッセージを残し銀座を後にした。
Following appearances in both London and New York, Yayoi Kusama last night visited Dover Street Market Ginza to celebrate the launch of her collaboration with Louis Vuitton. It was a dotty affair, Kusama’s twirling dotted sculptures decorating the windows of the store where Kusama appeared with two polka-dotted models to add more red sticker dots to DSM’s huge elephant sculpture. The contemporary artist made another appearance upstairs where she thanked guests for coming whilst calling for peace and unity in the wake of the disaster at Fukushima. Reading from one of her texts, Kusama-san also sang a short piece before bidding good night. The range of Summer dresses, pant suits, shoes and accessories featuring Yayoi Kusama’s trademark polka dots is now on sale globally at Louis Vuitton boutiques and Dover Street Market Ginza.
