7月1日の19時頃に訪れた複合ビル「GYRE（ジャイル）」。そう … 世界中で活躍するファッションモデル富永愛主催の写真展へ足を運んだのだった。19時より行われていたレセプションでは、彼女本人によるトークショーが行われたのだった。シャンパンを片手に、今回のエキシビションの内容について … また、ファッションとは … なんなのか。日本のファッションを盛り上げるために熱く語った富永愛。会場には、沢山の関係者が訪れていたほか、メディア陣に、モデルたちまでもが。とにかく、これまでにファッション誌で使用されることのなかった貴重な写真や、懐かしいあんな写真にこんな写真までもが展示されている。写真家、レスリー・キー、蜷川実花、TISCH氏らによる作品どれも素晴らしい。人々は助け合って生きていかなければいけないのです。助け合い、協力し合い、新たな日本へと歩みださねばなりません。富永愛。

Last night we attended the opening of the ‘I,Tominaga’ exhibition at the ‘EYE OF GYRE’ gallery space on Omotesando. Running through until July 18th, it’s the chance to see a mosaic of images built up through Ai’s #sakuramovement on twitter as well as a beautiful body of work featuring the Japanese supermodel by photographers Leslie Kee, Mika Ninagawa and Tisch.
The space was packed last night with people coming out to support Ai and this project which uses cherry blossoms as a symbol of restoration and rehabilitation. It also goes to show how important twitter was for communication after the earthquake and how prominent twitter is becoming as social media in Japan today.
