Alessandro Michele’s appointment at GUCCI has revived the Italian luxury goods house in a way not seen since Tom Ford’s tenure in the 90’s. For The men’s Spring 2016 show presented this past June in Milan, Michele eschewed the buff boys that usually populate the Milanese runway – 2016’s GUCCI man is boyish in face and frame. This gave a fresh, modern role to bows, lace embellished ensembles, trench coats and suede jackets. GUCCI’s brand heritage found its place with GG monogrammed bags decorated with intricately embroidered flora and fauna, GG belt buckles holding up bell bottom pants. GUCCI is once again a brand it’s exciting to watch.
