2014年に「アディダス オリジナルス」と長期的パートナーシップを交わしたファレル・ウィルアムス。今年4月、50色というこれまでにないカラーバリエーションで「SUPERCOLOR」を発表し世界中のファンを魅了。さらに「SUPERSHELL」と名付けた新作シリーズ第1弾「Supershell Artwork Collection」が8月7日より発売。今回のコレクションでは、ファレル自身が選んだ世界のクリエイター、プッシャ・T（ラッパー）、俳優でディレクターのロシア出身グレゴリー・ドブリギン、メキシコ出身のSMITHE（イラストレーター）、中国出身のヴィジュアルアーティスト、VJ MIAN。そして、日本を拠点にAMBUSH®のデザイナーとして活躍するYOONの5人をキャンペーンに起用。常に自分自身のために何かを飾り続けている異なるアーティスト。
昨夜（8月17日）＿「SUPERSTAR」をテーマにファレル・ウィリアムスとYOONによる一夜限りのアソビ場「CELEBRATION PARTY TOKYO by Pharrell Wiliams & YOON」が、北品川の寺田倉庫で開催された。「PLAYGROUND」をベースにアソビゴコロをくすぐるインスタレーションや現在発売されている新作コレクション「スーパーシェル」の展示スペース（ザハ・ハディド（建築家）、村上隆の一番弟子Mr.、トッド・ジェームス（コンテンポラリーアーティスト）、ファレリ・ウィリアムス）、スケボーデッキで造られたロングブランコとまさに会場はアソビ場そのもの。大阪＆東京とサマソニ出演を無事終えて会場に登場した「真のスーパースター」。今回のプロジェクトは、2015年秋冬「アディダス オリジナルス」のキャンペーンである「#OrijinalSuperstar – Pay It Forward」の日本における展開と共に、「SUPERSTAR PLAYGROUND」と題した日本独自のプロジェクトとして始動開始。
★「SUPERSTAR PLAYGROUND」プロジェクト
アディダス オリジナルスでは、日本における展開として全世界の中のファレル・ウィリアムスに選ばれたクリエイターの1人であるYOONと共に、「SUPERSTAR PLAYGROUND」と題したプロジェクトを始動する。ソーシャルメディアのみならず、東京の街を巻き込むなど、人々が実際に体験できるリアルなコンテンツなど多数展開していく。
Last night, in a Tokyo bayside warehouse, Pharrell Williams and AMBUSH®’s YOON invited guests to come ‘Pay it Forward’ at an adidas SUPERSTAR PLAYGROUND. The occasion came as part of a global campaign for Adidas SUPERSTAR sneakers for which Pharrell has nominated five emerging artists whose courageous pursuit of creativity inspires him. He handpicked Pusha T, VJ Mian, Grigoriy Dobrygin and Smithe and YOON as his own Original Superstars, the five will in turn ‘Pay it Forward’ in coming weeks by nominating their own creative SUPERSTARS.
Pharrell’s acknowledgment of YOON as a global influencer comes after years of boundary pushing creative efforts realized through dedication and hard work for AMBUSH®. It follows this years global recognition of YOON’s creativity and personal style by industry barometers including VOGUE PARIS and i-D as well as a starring role in A$AP ROCKY’s LSD music video. We proudly celebrated our friend alongside a mix of Tokyo’s freshest faces and accomplished creative talents before heading off to an after-party at Trump Room. Genuine good vibes made this the most memorable of celebrations.
Pharrell’s Superstar Supershell Artwork Collection completely reinvents the Superstar’s Shelltoe for the very first time with designs by Todd James, Cass Bird, Mr. and Zaha Hadid. Presented at the adidas #OriginalSuperstar PLAYGROUND, the sneakers drop August 18th in Japan.
