今週末、観客のいない街路でエリート選手だけが東京マラソンに参加。プロ野球は空っぽのスタジアム、Jリーグは空席のスタンドの中試合を行い、大相撲本場所は無観客で開催された。ほとんどの美術館やテーマパークは閉館。もちろんこれはすべて新型コロナウイルス(COVID-19)の拡散阻止への現在の取り組みによるものだ。ライブやコンサートも大打撃を受けている。
ヒップホップ集団 BAD HOPは横浜アリーナでステージに上がる予定だったが、イベントを中止せざるを得ない状況に。製作準備費用約10億円が赤字となった。ファンのためにショーは行いたいという思いから、BAD HOP 8名のMC達は誰もいないアリーナで上演しyoutube上に配信した。費用の埋め合わせのためクラウドファンディングページを設置し、この不運なツアー日以降に販売されるBAD HOPの3rdアルバムの早期入手や、今後5年間に行われるBAD HOPのライブショウへの優待券などの特典を提供している。CAMPFIREでのクラウドファンディングのページへはこちらをクリック。
観客のいないスタジアムは奇妙な雰囲気となったが、それが今後数週間、よく見られるものになるかもしれない。（日本は東京2020オリンピックに備えてるため、それが数ヶ月間にならないことをないことを願う）
Only elite athletes participated in the Tokyo marathon this weekend on streets almost empty of spectators. Baseball teams played in empty stadiums, football teams to empty stands, a sumo tournament was held behind closed doors, and most museums and theme parks closed. This is all, of course, due to the current effort to halt the spread of the new coronavirus, COVID-19. Live shows and concerts have also been hit hard.
Hip hop collective BAD HOP had been due to take the stage at Yokohama Arena Sunday night, but the decision was made to cancel the event. Pre-production costs already put the group roughly one million dollars (US) in the red. So with an urge to put on a show for fans, BAD HOP’s T-Pablow, YZERR, Tiji Jojo, Benjazzy, Yellow Pato, Bark, GK.ID and Vingo played to an empty arena streamed live on youtube. As a way to cover the costs, a crowdfunding page has been set up offering benefits ranging from early access to BAD HOP’s 3rd album to merch from the ill-fated tour date and a five year Gold Card invitation to all BAD HOP live shows for the next five years. The empty stadium makes for a surreal sight, but it’s one that looks likely to become common over the coming weeks (hopefully not months, as Japan prepares for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.)
