ビョークのミュージックビデオや、映画「エターナル・サンシャイン」で知られる気鋭の映画監督ミシェル・ゴンドリー。 「ミシェル・ゴンドリーの世界一周」では、2つの異なる展示空間で、彼の独創的なイマジネーションの世界をまるごと紹介。
第1部「ホームムービー・ファクトリー」は、路地裏、カフェ、電車などのセットを舞台にオリジナル映画作りに挑戦できるワークショップ型体験展示。アイディア次第で誰でも映画が作れる、というゴンドリーのモットーが体現化されたこのワークショップでは、脚本から撮影まですべてあなた次第。初心者の方でも大丈夫、グループに1人インストラクターがつき、みなさんの想像力を引き出すサポートヘルプする。憧れの銀幕デビュー！？上映室での試写会もお楽しみのひとつ。
第2部「Around the World in 19 Videos」は、ゴンドリーの代表的なミュージックビデオ作品19本をフィーチャリングしたインスタレーション。アイディアあふれる19篇の物語が散りばめられた映像の迷宮を歩いてみよう。最新作「背の高い男は幸せ？」のためのドローイングや、「ムード・インディゴ：うたかたの日々」「恋愛睡眠のすすめ」などの映画に登場するロマンティックで不思議なガジェットたちにも出会える。
ゴンドリーの遊び心に満ちた映像魔術の世界を歩き回る「Around the World in 19 Videos」、そして彼の映像制作の原風景を追体験できる「ホームムービー・ファクトリー」。2つのゴンドリーワールドから、次世代クリエイターたちに影響を与え続ける気鋭の映画監督の創造の源を探ってよう。

Michel Gondry, the visionary artist who shaped dynamic music video direction with his work alongside Bjork in the 90’s, has an exhibition opening this week at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo.

Spirited film director Michel Gondry is best known for his work on Björk’s music videos and the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.With “Around Michel Gondry’s World”, you will have complete access to his creative world in two different exhibition spaces.
Part one, “The Home Movie Factory”, is a workshop-type exhibition where you will be challenged to create your own original film with a range of different sets that include a back alley, a café and a train carriage. The Factory embodies Gondry’s belief that anyone with a good idea can make a film and it offers the opportunity to experience all the processes of filmmaking from the writing of the screenplay to the shooting. No prior experience in filmmaking is required and each group will have an instructor on hand for support. Three hours later, you leave with a DVD of your own little masterpiece! Finished movies are screened to the group and added to the stock in the mock video store at the front of the museum, where they can be viewed by visitors on a widescreen television.
Visitors are welcome to simply visit the exhibition without participating in the workshop.
Part two, “Around the World in 19 Videos”, is an installation featuring 19 of Michel Gondry’s best-known music videos. Enter the labyrinthine world of Gondry’s wildly inventive music videos, and admire the drawings of his latest work Is the Man who is Tall Happy? and the romantic and mysterious gadgets that appear in films such as Mood Indigo (L’Ecume des jours) and The Science of Sleep.
