ポップカルチャーとファナティシズムに強く影響を受けるイギリス生まれのイラストレーター「バニー・ビスー」をご存知だろうか。2007年にブライトン大学を卒業後、イギリス各地で展覧会を経験。2011年にはヘビメタ音楽の発祥地でもあるウェスト・ミッドランス（イギリス）を祝して開催されたホーム・オヴ・メタル プロジェクトへの参加で注目を浴びる。その後東京に拠点を移し、2012年8月恵比寿のKate Galleryで初の個展を開催。
そんなバニーが、「サマーメルトダウン : ANTI-SUMMER FÊTE」と題した新作個展を7月25日より開催する。「ANTI-SUMMER FÊTE=アンチ夏祭り!大嫌いな夏!とけちゃうような灼熱の思い出」。でも、ファンタジーと夢でいっぱいの夏を楽しむために、イギリスの伝統的な夏祭りを演出。会場では、バニーが描き下ろした新作のアート作品やポスター、ここでしか手に入らない限定品などを集めインスタレーションを開催。さらに、ミニポップアップショップと題して、既存のZINEやオリジナルグッズも展開予定。

Tokyo based artist Bunny Bissoux offers an alternative to traditional Japanese Summer Matsuri’s with her ‘ANTI-SUMMER FÊTE’
Celebrating summer gloom after returning to japan from a recent trip to her homeland England, Bunny finds inspiration in traditional English village fetes and summer fairs combined with her dislike of the season and personal summer meltdown memories, fantasies and dreams. Bunny presents a wall installation including new original work alongside artist’s prints and ephemera. In addition a mini pop up shop which will be selling prints, zines and original artist’s goods alongside exotic english novelties.
Bunny Bissoux is an artist, illustrator and self described “obsessive fanatic”. Her work is heavily inspired by popular culture and fanaticism, often featuring her own interests and obsessions together with a combination of real and imagined characters, conversations and experiences. Recurring themes include music, teenage angst, nature, icons, idols and the artist herself. Her distinct visual style and a strong personal identity are conveyed across various mediums.
