ラフ・シモンズ率いる「CALVIN KLEIN 205W39NYC」2シーズン目となる2018年春夏コレクションがニューヨークで発表された。
オープニングから5ルックは、素材を変えて前シーズンとほぼほぼ変わらず、足下にはカーウボーイブーツ、ベルトループからぶら下がるポンポンアクセ。インスピレーション源となった”アメリカ”というキーワード、アメリカンホラー、アメリカンドリームと様々なアメリカン要素が散りばめられた今回のコレクション。アートはもちろん、アメリカの文化や映画、そして、つい最近見始めたと語った、7年前にスタートしたアメリカのテレビドラマ・ゲーム・オブ・スローンズなど。個人的に気になった黄色のルックは、ブレイキング・バッド（TVドラマ）からの参照だろう。化学知識に優れたウォルター・ホワイトのメス密造時の黄色のアウトフィット、中盤に登場したあのシューズ、80年代に公開された映画・13日の金曜日のジェイソンのあのマスクからに違いない。そして気になっていたプリントモチーフは、70年代に制作されたアンディー・ウォーホルの作品で、俳優・デニス・ホッパーがプリントされている。終盤のポンポンドレスはまさにチアリーダー。
“American Horror, American Dreams” – that’s how Raf Simmons describes Calvin Klein Spring / Summer 2018, the second runway show in his role at the iconic American brand. Some cultural references were blatant, the pom-pom skirts and dresses & Warhol pop-art prints. Others were more hidden, like the shoe thatreferences Jason’s mask from Friday 13th. There’s a lot to take in with some looks, highly covetable pieces revealing themselves upon closure inspection, we are particularly taken with the rubberised effects. The color-blocked band uniform-style shirts which have appeared in many a F/W editorial evolved into a sleek silk version which was a nice continuation of Raf’s vision of Americana at Calvin Klein. The show was also notable for marking the runway debut of Cindy Crawford’s daughter, Kaia Gerber.
