2013年9月に「COACH（コーチ）」のエグゼグティブ・クリエイティブ・ディレクターに就任したスチュアート・ヴィヴァース。初のコレクションを10月にオープンしたばかりの新コンセプトストア「コーチ新宿」にて披露。オープンを記念して開催されたVOGUE GIRL x COACH スペシャルナイトでは、オーラカラーで診断する噂の占い師、しいたけ氏のコーナーや、スタイリングトークなどが行われた。終盤、コラボレーションでおなじみAMBUSH®デザイナーYOONと、モデルの秋本梢によるサウンドで、更にクラシックアメリカンスタイルな雰囲気。彼女らの手組には、オープンを記念して制作された、「COACH x AMBUSH®」のバックチャームブレスレットが。COACHの”C”とAMBUSHの”A”の頭文字を施したこのブレスレットは、名前の通りバックチャームとしてだけではなく、ブレスレットやチョーカーとしても着用可能。その日の衣装に合わせて使い道は多様。洗練された落ち着いた空間に魅了されるコーチガールたち。
COACH x AMBUSH®
Last night we visited COACH’s revamped Shinjuku Flagship for a night hosted by the (also recently revamped) VOGUE GIRL. The first store in Japan to be opened under Creative Director Stuart Vevers, COACH SHINJUKU was celebrated in a number of exclusive items, the star of which literally being a bag chain created by AMBUSH®. The perfect brand through which to bridge the gap between what COACH was and the direction it is now heading, Vever’s himself invited AMBUSH®’s YOON to collaborate after meeting at a dinner earlier this year. Available exclusively at COACH stores in Tokyo as a limited item, the Bag Strap can also been worn as a choker or bracelet, Kozue Akimoto and YOON choosing the latter option when taking to the decks last night.
The appointment of Stuart Vevers at COACH heralded a new era for the brand. A youthful and throughly contemporary debut collection for Fall 2104 celebrated American-Cool – a NY downtown girl on a road trip with standouts that included red & black houndstooth outer wear, cute rocket knits and the all important bags with leather feather embellishments. In the past couple of years there have been many reshuffles at the helm of fashion houses, the shift in image at COACH being one of the most instantaneous and successful. A look at the images from the look book below illustrate how Vevers, in this era of mixed street/high fashion, has managed to create a collection which sits perfectly between, look expensive and most importantly feature memorable highly covetable pieces.
