Young Japanese designers with vision and creativity are beginning to emerge here in Tokyo, ones with their own unique sense of identity. Three of these designers will be holding a joint exhibition from May 5th – May 15th at the Conceal Gallery in Shibuya.
After completing dressmakers college, the designer from BODYSONG assisted in the Issey Miyake design studio before setting up their own label. The difficult to understand website is HERE.
Graduating from ESMOD, JUNYA SUZUKI creates alien like clothes in fabrics that armor the body. Best understood by looking at the current collection available at Candy’s online store HERE.
BALMUNG received a lot of attention recently for making GAGA’s glasses for her ‘Telephone’ performance on Music Station. Far more than just an accessories maker, designer Hachi creates clothing items which spark awe and inspiration, exploring ideas to do with ‘cities and human relationships’ – a key concept in Tokyo.
