For Fall/Winter 2011/12, Japanese menswear brand DISCOVERED turns to the streets of our very own Tokyo for inspiration. Collating the different styles that make up the area from Shibuya down through Harajuku, DISCOVERED designers Tatsuya Kimura & Sanae Yoshida work with just 2 colors for this collection, black, white and camel giving a sense of luxury. ‘TOKIO XXX’ provides complete looks rather than statement pieces, with the lack of creative editorial in Japan I think this is a good way for brands to move forward. Something else I like abut DISCOVERED and some of the other menswear brands here in Tokyo is how much they change from season to season, keeping it fresh. We were particularly taken by the brands F/W ’11/’12 collaboration with British shoemakers ‘UNDERGROUND’, especially the creepers in both camel and black.
