2012年7月29日 ~ 9月17日までの51日間、新潟県越後妻有地域(十日町市、津南町)で、大地の芸術祭 越後妻有アートトリエンナーレ2012年が7月29日から開催されると共に、6月13日より「大地の芸術祭 越後妻有アートトリエンナーレ2012年 開幕直前展」が開催される。第5回目問なる大地の芸術祭は、「人間は自然に内包される」という基本理念のもと、地域資源を活かした個性豊かな施設が展開されてきた越後妻有地域全体をミュージアムとして発信。公式フォトグラファーでもある石川直樹氏と、2003年の第2回大地の芸術祭に参加した森山大道氏の写真展を開催。詳しくはコチラ！

The Echigo-Tsumari Art Trienalle is one of the worlds biggest art festivals with art and activities spread throughout over 200 villages of the Echigo-Tsumari area of Nigata Japan. Modern civilization’s existence alongside nature is a core question of society, and this festival explores this through art, assembling artists from around the world and drawing participants from major cities out into the beautiful Japanese countryside. I’ve only just found out about this festival myself and it’s best to take time and have a good look through their website to fully explore what it’s about. The Trianelle takes place July 29th – September 17th.

Naoki Ishikawa, whose photo is above, is the official photographer for this years festival. In the run up to the festival opening he is having an exhibition together with Daido Moriyama at the 8/CUBE Gallery Space at the new HIKARIE building in Shibuya.
