CONGRATULATIONS TO HERMÈS!
Friday night in Tokyo and French luxury goods house Hermès pulled out all the stops for their 50’s themed ‘Swinging Silk’ party. Very few brands have the power to motivate the Japanese capitals fashion set to travel across the city for a night out however we found ourselves on the Yamanote line headed East to the Tokyo Kinema Club nearby Uguisudani (The Ueno side of town). The old school concert hall had been transformed into a decadent dance hall. Dozens of Hermès scarves hung from the ceiling as patrons in 50’s garb danced on the Hermès vinyl record floor below. Pro-dancers took turns at performing and teaching the colorful crowd a few moves, the energy was great and everyone joined in. An open bar, flowing champagne, classy french interpretations on American diner classics, cotton candy and pop corn all added to the festival like atmosphere which at times felt like a dream like 50’s prom (a feeling backed up by the onsite portrait photographer). Thanks and congratulations to Hermès, this was the brand party of the year so far!
