THE ART OF THE COLONIES (2013)（植民地の芸術）
表参道ルイ・ヴィトン ビルの7階アートスペース「エスパス ルイ・ヴィトン東京」にて、ヤン・ファーブルの「Tribute to Hieronymus Bosch in Congo (2011-2013)」が7月9日より開催。
ベルギー・アントワープ生まれのファーブルは、現代アーティストとして演劇と美術の境界横断し、ベルギーのみならず世界中を飛び回る多才なアーティストの1人。本展は、2013年のリース（フランス）の宮殿美術館、キエフ（ウクライナ）のピンチュック・アートセンターで行われたシリーズの新たな展開として、彼の代表作とも言える玉虫の鞘翅（さやばね）を扱った一連のモザイク画を日本で初めて展示。詳しくはこちら！

Yesterday we attended the opening of the latest exhibition at Espace Louis Vuitton in Tokyo which is showing a set of mosaics from Artist Jan Fabre’s series, ‘Tribute to Hieronymus Bosch in Congo’. The pieces are fruits of an artistic process that ran from 2011 to 2013. Using beetle wing sheathes – or elytra – Fabre decided to turn his focus to his country’s colonial past to cover skulls and create large size mosaics which shimmer under the venues lights. Fabre draws inspiration from scenes depicted in the Garden of Earthly Delights, reinterpreting them as allegories of injustice, cruelty and indifference. Definitely work to appreciate in person.
