新型コロナウイルスで騒がしい世の中、世界的ヘアメイクアップアーティスト、加茂克也が2月に亡くなったと報じられ衝撃を受けてしまった。
1998年 モッズ・ヘアでキャリアをスタートし、活動の場をフランス・パリに移しシャネルやフェンディ、ジュンヤワタナベ、コムデギャルソン、アンダーカバーといったメゾンブランドのショーを手がけてき加茂克也。2013年 原宿ラフォーレで開催された「100 HEADPIECES」展では、彼の脳内世界を再現した貴重な展覧会が開催され、ファッション業界人はもちろん、美容師やヘアメイクを目指す下の世代に多大なる刺激を与えたであろう。99%IS の2014年秋冬コレクション会場でご一緒し、2016年3月 ルクア大阪でのスペシャルイベント、彼の創作現場などといった貴重な場に居合わせたことをとても光栄に思う。彼の名がそこにあるだけでそのプロジェクトがどれだけ特別なものなのかは言うまでもなく。「いつか加茂さんのように」、「いつか加茂さんと一緒に」と思っていた人がどれだけ存在するか。デザイナーやスタイリストを通じてショーや撮影現場を別次元の物語へと導く魔法使いのようなアーティスト。加茂克也の作品/アートピースはこれからも私たちにインスピレーションを与え続けることでしょう。

We were deeply saddened to learn over the weekend that renowned hairstylist and makeup artist Katsuya Kamo had passed away in February.
Having started out his career at Mod’s hair Japan, Kamo-san moved to Paris where he created looks for brands including Chanel, Fendi, Junya Watanabe, Comme des Garcons and Undercover. In 2013 one hundred of his sculptural masterpieces were put on display in an exhibition at La Foret in Harajuku. We’re grateful for having the opportunity to witness the master at work backstage on several occasions, from shows for 99%IS during Japan Fashion Week to the epic anniversary event for Lucua in Osaka. When Kamo-san’s name was connected to a project it elicited immediate excitement, you knew it was going to be something special. His collaborative work with Designers and Stylists took shows and shoots to another level of creative storytelling. The world has lost some magic, but Katusya Kamo’s work will continue to inspire. It’s also important to add, he was a really nice guy.
