2011年3月1日に発表されたあのニュースから！そう … キム・ジョーンズ（Kim Jones）がルイ・ヴィトン（Louis Vuitton）のメンズ・ディレクターに就任して初のコレクションが発表されたのだ。2012年春夏メンズコレクション。フロントロウには、リリー・アレンに、カニエ・ウエストの姿が。期待通り素晴らしいショーを見せ付けたキム・ジョーンズ。
ケニアに住むマサイ族の伝統衣装からインスピレーションを受けたキムは、深〜い青と赤のブロックチェックをダミエ・ラインの柄にそのまま使用したとか。そう … ご存知、ルイ・ヴィトンはトラベルグッツとしても有名なブランドでもある。これらのアイテムがこれからのトラベルで露出するのは間違いない。個人的に気になったのは、やはりブロックチェックなダミエ・ライン。ダミエのセットアップにベージュのレザーベルトを使用したバック。全体的にベーシックなコレクションだったが、それぞれのディテールを見ると彼のクリエーションが一目で分かる。キムらしい。さらに、キムのフレンドとしても知られるカニエ・ウエストに、VERBAL、ジョージ・バーネットら。それぞれが異なった個性を持ち …. ルイ・ヴィトンの2012年春夏コレクションを着こなす姿を想像していたとか。Congratulations Kim x

Spring-Summer 2012 sees British designer Kim Jones take the helm as Creative Director at Louis Vuitton. Paired with Marc Jacobs as the over all director of the brand and womenswear designer, this makes for one hell of a formidable creative team at Vuitton and the collection was the most anticipated show this menswear season.
Louis Vuitton is all about travel and Kim’s mood board (top right-photos from NY Times) showed that he was taking a sartorial journey to Africa. Mixing the colors and styles of classic explorers with the traditional deep blues and reds of the Masai people on Louis V’s classic check Kim created a collection of contemporary luxury sportswear fitting for both the urban jungle and more far away destinations. I know Kim is good friends with Kanye West (sat front row for this show), VERBAL and lots of the models from London like George Barnett from These New Puritans. These are men from very different backgrounds yet I could see parts of each of them throughout the collection. From the tailored suits, the wood colored framed sunglasses with blue framed lenses and the beautiful scarfs, this collection grows richer the more you take in the details.
