ニコラ・ゲスキエールによる新生「ルイ・ヴィトン（Louis Vuitton）」のエキシビション「SERIES 1 – THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW」が、ルイ・ヴィトン新宿店にて本日9月8日より開催。
ニコラ・ゲスキエールがルイ・ヴィトンの新アーティスティック・ディレクターに就任して初のコレクションということもあり話題となった今回の2014/15年秋冬コレクション。彼のクリエイティブな世界観を体感できる「SERIES 1」は、新生ルイ・ヴィトンの旅物語。まず、入り口付近、フランス人女優シャルロット・ゲンズブールによる一枚の手紙「エントランス パネル」が。奥へ進むと巨大トランク「Magic Trunk」が展示されていて、光と映像でルイ・ヴィトンのミューズやアイコンが浮き上がっている。そして、24面のLCDスクリーンに映し出された「Infinite show」インスタレーション。上の階では、ジュエリーを身につけたスカルプチャーたちがお出迎え「Accessories Gallery」。隣の部屋では、ブルース・ウェーバーにユルゲン・テラー、アニー・リーボヴィッツらが撮り下ろした2014/15年秋冬キャンペーンでコラージュされた「Poster Room」。
5日に開かれたプレゼンテーション・パーティーでは、アーティスティック・ディレクター、ニコラ・ゲスキエールが来日したほか、クロエ・セヴィニーやアデル・エグザルコプロスらも来日していた。
貴重すぎるルイ・ヴィトンの旅物語「SERIES 1」、是非足を運んでみるべし。

Opening today, Louis Vuitton’s ‘That Was Then, This is Now’ SERIES 1 Exhibition explores the ‘New Day’ at the storied French Luxury Maison, that brought about by new Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquire. The interior of Shinjuku’s LV flagship has been transformed into a multi-media installation for the presentation of this new ‘Ghesquire Girl’ and the covetable wardrobe the designer has created for his Fall/Winter 2014-15 LV debut. Video projections of the PARIS Show illuminate the walls of rooms populated by vintage Vuitton luggage before visitors take a twisting stair case to the second floor. Here, intricate styrofoam mannequins balance the new seasons accessories including the much-in-demand Épi Petite-Malle, photographed here in Silver and Gold. The back room takes on a teen-dream-theme with images from the SERIES 1 campaign shot by Bruce Weber, Jurgen Teller and Annie Leibovitz plastered all over the walls (videos from each of the shoots can be seen below).
Guests at the opening event included Nicolas Ghesquire (his only public appearance this year), Chloe Sevigny, Rinko Kikuchi and Nakata. The exhibition is a suitably epic way for Louis Vuitton to introduce their new era to Japan. We’ll be back in the coming weeks, ‘THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW’ runs until September 28th at Luis Vuitton’s Shinjuku Store.
