「VERSACE for H&M」から約1年、10月23日ニューヨークのビークマン通り5番地にある歴史的廃墟ビルにて開催された「Maison Martin Margiela with H&M」お披露目。
1980年代に建てられた9階建ての建物は、ホワイトカラーのスタイルにデコレーションされ1階から9階まで吹き抜けになった映画のような空間。
振付家アンヌ・テレサ・ドゥ・ケースマイケルによるダンスパフォーマンスやアートインスタレーションが開催され、ランウェイ形式とは異なるマルジェラ的アートなローンチ。「MMM with H&M」の衣装を身に纏ったダンサーたちは、マイアミから届いた白い砂の上で独特なダンスを披露。会場にはマルジェラのデザインチームはもちろん、H&Mクリエイティブ・アドバイザー、マルガレータ・ファン・デン・ボッシュに、ジュリアン・ムーア、サラ・ジェシカパーカー、ミーナ・スヴァーリ、カニエ・ウエスト、ヘレナ・クリステンセン、セルマ・ブレア、アラン・カミング、チェイス・クロフォードらの姿が。別の階ではこのためだけに制作されたアーティスト、ダニエル・アーシャムによる建築的インスタレーションが行われていた。
今回のコレクションは1989年から2012/13年秋冬シーズンの復刻版で、その中の2着は過去のオートクチュールからのものである。デザインチームで慎重に選んだのはもちろん、こういった形で “RE-EDITION” として誕生したことが嬉しく思える。とマルジェラチームは述べた。なかでも1番新しいウィメンズのライダースジャケット（2012 SS）は、元々メンズのシルエットをウィメンズライクに仕上げたとのこと。

「Maison Martin Margiela with H&M」は、11月15日より世界各地のH&M約230店舗にて同時発売。国内では、H&M GINZA, H&M SHIBUYA, H&M SHINJUKU, H&M EBISUBASHI 2, 名古屋松阪屋店、ZOZOTOWNで展開される。
Earlier this week Joe was in New York to celebrate the launch of Maison Martin Margiela with H&M. The event took place at 5 Beekman in Manhattan, a 9 Floor building that has been shuttered for 60 years. The decaying elegance of the unique space complimented Margiela’s abstract form vs functionality designs. An Art-mosphere concept for the evening saw a contemporary dance performance choreographed by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker with dancers in MMM x H&M. Side rooms held sculptures by artists including Noemie Goudal, Frédérique Chauveaux and Daniel Arsham. Guests for the evening included Kanye West, Sarah Jessica Parker, Juianne Moore, Helena Christensen, The Misshapes, Selma Blair and Mena Suvari, Susanne Bartsch, Chace Crawford and Ellen Von Unwerth all pictured below wearing clothes from the collection.
Maison Martin Margiela with H&M sees a reissue of some of the House’s most celebrated and coveted designs. Joe, amongst others, was delighted by the quality of the reproductions, especially the accessories.
