Mikio Sakabe works together with his wife Jen of ‘Jenny Fax’ label fame on his namesake brand which blends genders, cultures and styles to result in a collection presentation which manages to intrigue and surprise whilst offering pieces that could be used both as show pieces in editorials or worn with comfort on the streets of Harajuku. For Fall 2014 a cast of boys modeled the clothes rendering them genderless, this was in fact the only show during the week to use predominantly Asian male models. It’s fun when designers tap into traditional motifs, even more so when they are unrecognizable from ones on such as the elements of chinese culture in red skirts and Mandarin Collars. Bows were a key aspect, as neck ties, belts, embellishments on sheer setups or as a complete outfit as in the final look.
