MR GENTLEMAN FALL/WINTER 2014 AT TOKYO FASHION WEEK

2002年にリリースされたアシャンティのデビュー曲「FOOLISH」のサウンドと共に幕を開けた「MR. GENTLEMAN（ミスター・ジェントルマン）」の2014/15年秋冬コレクション。英国トラッド、マウンテン、アウトドア、ミリタリーとカジュアルながらもジャケットを羽織ったスタイルでまさにジェントルマン。デニムのセットアップにジャンプスーツ、ツイードにキルティング、レイヤードしたスタイングに、テーラードのラペルを取り入れたMA-1。個人的には終盤に登場したハットをかぶったマウンテンルックがお気に入り。これぞ”東京”と言わんばかりのミックスされた紳士たち。

Mr. Gentleman’s Fall/Winter collection displayed hints of Designer Osumi san’s Phenomenon style tendencies running through Yoshii-san’s preppy filter. O-san has been synonymous with the pairing of unexpected fabrics to give an added edge to what is effectively a street wear. For Fall 2014 this was styled in the show as tweed worn over denim, with stadium jacket sleeves or layered on top of body warmers which became pops of color beneath the traditional fabric. Onsies were another piece making appearance in long legged black and short legged puffed out down. Fall colors in muted tones differed from the bold colors of previous seasons giving the impression the Mr. Gentleman boy is growing up. The show lacked the giddy atmosphere and that seasons current-collection-wearing attendees of previous PHENOMENON shows but one feels this season was definitely a step closer to that.
