8月25日より表参道のWut Berlinにて行われていた「BANZAI（バンザイ）」の新作コレクションが発表された。「オペレーション」インスタレーションにスペシャルピースの展示。過去の作品と古着を解体、再構築した1点物のリメイクコレクションほか、アクセサリーやバッグが用意され、アーティスト、ベン・デービス（Ben Davis）とのコラボTシャツも販売されていた。
ユニークなモノ作りに力をいれるヨルコバンザイ。西洋のポップカルチャーをモチーフに、日本の美を融合させた複雑なカット＆シルエットで、バンザイならではのピースが誕生。

‘OPERATION BANZAI’ is the 2nd installment of the Banzai Trilogy from Designer Yoruko Banzai. Many young designers in Japan customize pieces, however BANZAI takes this to a whole new level with the intricate cuts and silhouettes which meld Japanese aesthetics with western pop-culture motifs to make something quite unique. Japanese embroidered bomber jackets are embellished with bouffant or tasseled sleeves. The boiler suits more commonly associated with the ‘black van’ nationalists are intwined with Western iconography with Bart Simpson, Ghost Busters, Betty Boop and the like running down the sleeves on celebratory ribbons. It’s less tribal and more traditional, a sense of some kind of remote island community compounded by the look book images below.
