Osumi Takeshi, 1973 – 2021. A phenomenal legend and a Mr. Gentleman.
Big-O invited me to take behind-the-scenes photos of the PHENOMENON shoot after the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear disasters of March 2011 cancelled fashion week. We found a shared love of the rare Madonna 1994 B-side ‘Let Down Your Guard’ that day. It was easy to let down your guard around Big-O because he was such a lovely guy. A pioneer of the street style / high fashion hybrid, his influence will live on. Sending our condolences to his family and friends at this saddest of times.
Osumi-san had been working on designs for what will be his final collection whilst in hospital. Mr Gentleman Fall/Winter 2021 will debut at Japan Fashion Week Tokyo in March.
