毎年5月に開催される「SHIMA」のヘアショー「SHIMA HAIR SHOW 2013 “ADDICTED”」が昨夜（5月28日）恵比寿ガーデンホールを会場に開催された。1984年よりスタートして今年で29回目を迎えたSHIMA（ヘアショー）が「ADDICTED（中毒・夢中）」をテーマに2013年最先端のヘアスタイルを披露。その時1番旬なモデルやアーティストとコボラし、サロンワーク以外に雑誌のヘア取材やショーへの出演。スキル力も高く多くのお客様に支持されるトップスタイリスト。ブログなどでオリジナルのスタイルを打ち出しフォロワーを増やすニューフェイス。そして、サロンワークはもちろん、ファッション誌・カタログ・コレクションなどとヘアメークアーティストとして活躍する1人のアーティスト。オープンを飾ったのはNEW HAIRでお馴染み今シーズンのミューズ、モナ。彼女のウォーキングと共にレーザー光線が飛び交った空間演出。5部構成となった2013年SHIMAのNEW HAIRをチェックするべし！

The SHIMA Hair Show 2013 took place yesterday at Tokyo’s Ebisu Garden Hall. Each year the salon chain presents it’s current looks and top stylists in a part Fashion Show part Club Event performance piece which incorporates smoke and beaming lasers to a booming top-40 sound track. Hair is big business in Japan. In a country where the vast majority of people have straight black hair, one’s coiffure is as important to one’s identity as clothes, hair and accessories. Just as wardrobes are switched over from season to season, hair styles are more often than not changed to match, with stylists and trips to the salon being an important part of the average Tokyoite’s social circle. SHIMA displays great business sense in positioning itself amongst seasonal fashions and as a leader in hair trends by creating their own ‘campaign’ each season as well as holding the sell-out (people pay to go to these things) shows. The vast majority of attendees are students and future hair stylists and this year things were done a little differently with Creative Director Kaori Shima taking to the stage at the end of the show to discuss the Salons heritage and introduce the salons staff. Insight was given into salon life, as well as the fact that SHIMA staff are also in demand for out of salon shoots. The lead example given by Art Director Nara Yuya who as well as having hundreds of clients at the salon has a hugely successful career managed by SHIMA outside of the salon working with top magazines, artists and models with a client list ranging from GAGA and Kiko to VOGUE and Louis Vuitton. Not everyone can reach such heady heights of success yet in a market where most magazines look like catalogues it’s encouraging to see something aspirational.
