1979年にTVアニメとして誕生した「機動戦士ガンダム」＿六本木・森アーツセンターギャラリーにて史上最大ともいえるガンダムの魅力を解き明かす展覧会が、7月12日より開催される。
近未来のリアルなSF設定、重層的な人間ドラマとスタイリッシュなモビルスーツの戦いは観る者を釘付けにし、日本のアニメーション史上に残る不朽の名作として語り継がれている。「ガンダム展」では、魅力の神髄に迫るために、1,000点にも及ぶ制作資料を一挙公開。物語の生みの親・富野喜幸総監督(現・富野由悠季氏)の企画段階のメモや、美術監督の中村光毅氏が同総監督のイメージを視覚化した美術設定、美術ボード。キャラクターデザインを手がけたアニメーション・ディレクターの安彦良和氏が、アムロやシャアら、魅力的なキャラクターを柔らかく美しく描いた原画の数々。ガンダムやザクなど、クールなモビルスーツをデザインしたメカニックデザイナー、大河原邦男氏の多様な設定画。
4氏をはじめとする多数のクリエイターたちの息づかいが漂う膨大な作品を、光や音、映像を交えた演出で展示する。詳しくは＿こちら！

The revamped Mori Arts Center will host ‘The Art of Gundam’ exhibition this Summer. Created in 1979 by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the sci-fi anime and manga franchise features giant robots as ‘metal suits’ and is one of the most successful such franchises ever. 2014 saw 18.4 Billion Yen in sales of Gundam merchandise alone.
Collecting cultural artefacts from 36 years of Gundam history, the exhibition will feature 1000 items which were used in the process of making the TV programs and theatrical films. The most recent film, GUNDAM ORIGINS will be sowing in a virtual theater. Mori Gallery is tapping into the lucrative demographic of Japanese school kids on Summer vacation and foreign tourists visiting Japan over the holidays.
