国内初 鬼才「ティム・バートン」の企画展「ティム・バートンの世界」が11月1日より六本木の森アーツセンターギャラリーにて開催される。映画「シザーハンズ」や「チャーリーとチョコレート工場」などを手がけてきたティム・バートンは、2009年にNYのMoMA（ニューヨーク近代美術館）で幼少期に描いたスケッチや模型、一般公開されてなかった作品（デッサン、写真、オブジェ）およそ約500点を展示。MoMa史上3番目の入場者数となる約80万人が来場するなどと反響が大きかったことからメルボルンやトロント、パリ、韓国と世界各都市でも企画展を実施してきた。
国内初の展覧会となる「ティム・バートンの世界」では、スケッチやデッサンの他、10代の頃に手掛けた未公開映像作品や紙ナプキンに描いたイラストや水彩画、や 8mmフィルムで撮影した秘蔵映像などの作品も展示。同展のオリジナルグッズも販売される。2015年2月からは大阪での開催も予定している。

The twisted genius of Tim Burton has brought us some of the most memorable imagery and films over the past 25 year. Personal childhood favorites are littered with Burton’s movies… Beetle Juice and his two Batman’s, Edward Scissor Hands, Ed Wood, Mars Attacks, The Nightmare Before Christmas… props, sketches, scale models from all these will be on show at ‘The World of Tim Burton’ exhibition coming to Mori Gallery this Fall. As well as archive pieces from Burtons famous movies, the exhibition will give insight into unrealized projects such as another Batman sequel and ‘Little Dead Riding Hood’.
The Exhibition has been on tour around the world for a few years now and Tokyoites will get a chance to explore ‘The World of Tim Burton’ at Mori Gallery Tokyo from November 1st 2014. More info and imagery when available.
