イギリス・ロンドン発の「TOPSHOP / TOPMAN」が、先週の木曜日（2010年9月16日）、東京・新宿駅前に国内最大の旗艦店をオープン。前日の15日はローンチパーティーが開催され、ブリティッシュ色に染まった外人モデルたちが集結したのはもちろん、ザ・リバティーンズ（The Libertines）のカール・バラー（Cari Barât）によるアコーステッィックライブ演奏で会場は大盛り上がり。カールは9月22日に初のソロアルバム「Cari Barât」をリリースする予定。注目度はもちろんのこと、TOPSHOPとのフィーチャでかなり話題になっているのでは。会場にはTOPMAN初の日本発信プロジェクトとして知られる「Japan Collaboration」で、数少ないコラボアイテムを作り上げた「HEATH」「AMBUSH」「ROC STAR」の姿もあり、また、別サイドでは、SHIMA原宿店ディレクター奈良裕也とSACHIKOによるメイクアップ デモストレーションがあったりと。そう、TOPSHOPから新しくコスメラインが日本に上陸したのだ。他には … 一夜限りのブリティッシュ色に染まったTOPSHOPロンドンバス見たかな？個人的にはあのバスに載っているケイト・モスの姿が見てみたい。彼女ならではのパフォーマンスに期待してしまう。来年の○月が楽しみすぎる。また、DJ DARUMA from DEXPISTOLSにPERIらのDJサバキで会場は大盛り上がり。
Last Thursday saw the opening of British store TOPSHOP/TOPMANS Japanese flagship store in Shinjuku. The building provides 1,000 square metres over 3 floors of the building just at the East exit of Shinjuku station. TOPMAN has opened in the basement, we didn’t have a chance to have such a good look at the opening party which was really busy, but Verbal and Yoon were there representing AMBUSH as was DJ Daruma for ROC STAR, two of the 3 brands that took part in special Japan/TOPMAN collaborations that we reported on here. Yuya Nara was on hand to give make-up demonstrations on Japans first TOPSHOP make-up section on the 1st floor, with a personal shopper available by appointment on the 2nd. If the double decker bus parked outside and the Bass Pale Ale on offer inside wasn’t British enough, Libertine Carl Barat was in attendance to perform acoustic tracks from his album which is out October 4th (website here).
TOPMAN definitely has potential in Japan, out of any of the ‘fast-fashion’ mens lines this is definitely the strongest for the Japanese market. After this store opening the company is now looking to Osaka where it will open stores in both Umeda and Shinsaibashi next year.
