ヴイヴィアン・ウエストウッド（Vivienne Westwood）の日本初となるメンズファッションショーが、後楽園ホールにあるボクシング場で開催された。レディースウェアと同時にメンズウェアもデザインをしており、1996年にはミラノコレクションへと初めてのメンズショーを発表。今年の6月にミラノコレクションで発表されたメンズウェアを、特別にスタイリングし、レディースライン（GOLD/RED/アーカイブ）とミックスした演出。
“ROUND1“と書かれたボードを手にラウンドガールの登場でショー スタート。2010年春夏のテーマは「1920年代のハリウッドスターとクルージング」だが、実際のショーでは、イーストエンドの雰囲気も持ち合わせていて、イーストエリアの男子に人気のボクサーたちがイメージを作りあげたとか。きっと大切な雰囲気を出すためのホールに違いない。
そう、クルージングというよりも、”ボクシング”という言葉のほうがテーマに適している。ヴィヴィアンならではのプリント柄。バギーすぎないゆる〜いパンツ。そして、大きめのサスペンダーは、勝手にアンドレアス（Andreas Kronthaler）を思い浮かべてしまう。
スペシャルすぎる格闘技選手小比類巻太信（Takayuki Kohiruimaki）と城戸康裕（Yasuhiro Kido）の登場で会場は大盛り上がり。リアルな試合を目の前で見ているかのような演出に驚かされた。
今回の来日で何処か行かれたの？と聞いてみると「歌舞伎を観に行ったわ。」と答えるヴィヴィアン。彼女は、どんなシチュエーションであろうと（出張・仕事・遊び）せっかく遠い日本に来たのだからエンジョイしたいわと言う。
On Wednesday night Vivienne Westwood presented her men’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection at Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall. The boxing theme saw models take their turns around a boxing ring in the centre of the arena, with items from the RED and GOLD collection mixed in with trade mark baggy pants and suspenders in round one. Boxers Takayuki Kohiruimaki and Yasuhiro Kido then took to the ring for a fight, decked out in Westwood. After the final round Andreas Kronthaler, who creates the mens line as well as collaborating on the GOLD line with Westwood, presented his wife with a bouquet of flowers and took her on a victory lap around the ring as the models bounced around the ropes in a celebratory mood. The show was a great spectacle, unlike anything we usually get to see here in Tokyo. The theatre in the presentation only worked to enhance the drama of the clothes and confirm Vivienne Westwood as the global fashion icon we all love.
Speaking at the after-party at Velours in Aoyama, Westwood revealed she had spent four hours that afternoon watching Kabuki and was looking forward to spending time at a hot spring while she is here. She chatted with DJ’s Elli-Rose and Mademoiselle Yulia who looked stunning in corseted Westwood dresses to DJ. Then, Wearing knickerbockers and a huge wrap, she was off into the Tokyo night. It’s not often you get to see the work of and meet a true fashion legend, Vivienne Westwood, thanks for such a treat.
