予告版から約200日、日本が舞台となったウェス・アンダーソン監督の新作映画『犬ヶ島』の日本公開日が決定。失踪した愛犬を探す少年アタリの壮大な冒険を描く全編ストップモーションアニメのアニメーション・アドベンチャー。架空都市”メガ崎市”を舞台に、犬の数が増え続け、伝染が広まってしまったことで、小林市長が犬を”ゴミ島”に追いやる緊急措置を取るところから幕が開け。舞台は近未来の日本、東京駅を彷彿とさせるムード型の建物や下町風の商店街、架空都市の”メガ崎”という言葉に続く日本語のワード、また相撲、和太鼓、浮世絵といった伝統的な日本のカルチャーにも注目を。
国際的に知られるビル・マーレイ、エドワード・ノートン、スカーレット・ヨハンソン、ジェフ・ゴールドブラム、ティルダ・スウィントンの豪華声優（俳優）陣に、日本人ヴォイスキャストには渡辺謙、村上虹郎、夏木マリ、野田洋次郎（RADWIMPS）、野村訓市といった世界的に活躍する多彩なキャストが集結。

Director Wes Anderson’s latest movie ‘Isle of Dogs’, well received by critics and audiences globally, makes its Japan debut this month. Set in a dystopian Japan where all dogs have been banished to an island, the stop-motion animation marries Anderson’s aesthetic with retro-future Showa period set designs. The adventure tale looks like that rare combination of story telling, humour and stunning visuals that can appeal to adults and kids alike.
Internationally known talent lend their voices to characters in the film including Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Scarlett Johanssen, Jeff Goldblum and Tilda Swinton with Japanese parts by actors Ken Watanabe, Nijiro Murakami, Mari Natsuki, Yojiro Noda (RADWIMPS) Koyu Rankin and Kunichi Nomura (who was also involved in the writing).
